The event was met with remarkable enthusiasm from students and interested individuals.

"Omid" (Hope) Pre-Event Held at the University of Kurdistan with Widespread Student Participation

According to the Public Relations Office of the University of Kurdistan, the event was attended by approximately 500 students from various disciplines and academic levels. Participants presented over 70 creative ideas, which ultimately led to the formation of 58 idea-based teams. These figures highlight the significant potential of the University of Kurdistan in the areas of student creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

During the pre-event, the university's Vice President for Research emphasized the necessity for universities to transition towards third and fourth-generation models and stressed the importance of students becoming entrepreneurs. "A university is not just a place for theoretical education; it must be a platform for nurturing ideas, solving problems, and cultivating a creative and entrepreneurial workforce," he said. "Events like these can bridge the gap between academic training and the real needs of society and the market."

The Vice President for Technology at the provincial Science and Technology Park also spoke about the role of innovation ecosystems in mitigating startup risks. "Ideas can only transform into sustainable businesses when they are placed on a supportive and guided path," he stated. "Science and technology parks and innovation centers significantly reduce the risk of startup failure by providing mentorship, infrastructure, and networking."

Furthermore, the university's Director of Innovation and Technology Development highlighted the importance of creating a dynamic and inspiring atmosphere within the university. He emphasized the role of such events in fostering student talent, adding, "Innovation takes shape when students feel their ideas are seen and that there is a possibility to turn them into action. The Omid event is an effective step towards creating this environment and boosting students' motivation for teamwork and creative activities."

A standout feature of the pre-event was the "Pitch & Win" session, where participants presented their ideas in one-minute pitches. This segment was met with widespread excitement from the students. At its conclusion, the top 20 ideas were recognized and awarded prizes to encourage creativity and motivate the teams.

As a prelude to the main event, the "Omid" pre-event provided an opportunity for students to familiarize themselves with the concepts of entrepreneurship and innovation while effectively networking with each other, professors, and key players in the technology ecosystem.
